I’m Khelno, the founder of Pixels & Pixies.
Behind every creation lies a passion for Pop Culture, fantasy worlds, video games, and imaginary universes — as well as a deep appreciation for working with wood.
Pixels & Pixies was born from the desire to turn the worlds I love into everyday objects that are both durable and thoughtfully crafted. Pieces that tell a story. Creations that resonate with fellow enthusiasts.
✏️ From concept to wood
Each design begins as a digital drawing on my graphic tablet.
I don’t simply place a motif onto wood — every visual is carefully composed. Proportions, contrast, engraving depth, balance between solid and empty spaces… everything is considered so the final result feels harmonious once transferred onto the material.
Some designs are inspired by iconic Pop Culture universes I particularly enjoy. Each piece is reworked and adapted to create a composition that suits both the wooden medium and its intended use.
Once the design is finalized, I carefully prepare the engraving settings to achieve precision, depth, and clarity.
The laser engraving inscribes the motif into the wood.
Then each piece is worked to give it texture, color, and durability.
Every item is hand-sanded.
The stain is applied carefully to enhance the wood grain without obscuring the details of the design.
When a model includes painting, this stage requires patience and precision: fine application, touch-ups, detailed edges, and drying times that can stretch over several days.
Finally comes protection.
Coasters, for example, require up to five coats of varnish, applied one by one with sanding in between, to ensure resistance and longevity.
Nothing is automated in this stage.
Every layer, every detail, every adjustment is done by hand.
This is how each piece gains its character.
🎨 Small-scale craftsmanship
I work in small batches or made-to-order.
Each design may exist in multiple pieces, but every item remains the result of careful, hands-on craftsmanship carried out in my workshop.
Some creations can also be customized to make them even more personal.
The wood, stains, and varnishes I use are manufactured in France, in a commitment to quality and consistency with my work.
